VA-Covered Acupuncture

Care for Veterans

At LifeStream Wellness, we are honored to support Veterans with compassionate, effective acupuncture care.

We are now in network with the VA for acupuncture services. Acupuncture may be covered through VA medical benefits when it is considered clinically necessary and authorized by the Veteran’s VA care team.

Acupuncture is recognized by the VA as part of its Whole Health approach and is commonly used as supportive care for pain, stress, sleep, and wellness concerns.

Our very own Acupuncturist Mary Nolan brings a unique depth of understanding and compassion to her work with Veterans. A combat Veteran herself, Mary earned her undergraduate degree at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, and served on active duty as an Army Preventive Medicine Officer. Her firsthand military experience allows her to connect with and support fellow Veterans in a meaningful way, creating a safe, respectful, and understanding environment for care.

Acupuncture May Help Support:

  • Chronic pain

  • Neck, back, shoulder, hip, and joint pain

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Stress and nervous system dysregulation

  • Anxiety and irritability

  • Sleep issues

  • Nightmares, hypervigilance, and trauma-related symptoms

  • Mental clarity, focus, and concentration

  • Energy, mobility, and overall well-being

A Natural Option for Pain & Whole-Body Support

Acupuncture offers a gentle, non-opioid approach to pain management and nervous system support. Many Veterans seek acupuncture to help improve function, reduce pain, calm the body, and support a greater sense of balance and well-being.

How the VA Acupuncture Program Works

To receive acupuncture through the VA, Veterans must have a direct referral and authorization from their VA provider.

The process typically works like this:

  1. The Veteran speaks with their VA provider about acupuncture.

  2. The VA determines whether acupuncture is appropriate based on the Veteran’s needs and eligibility.

  3. The VA sends an authorization/referral to an approved community care provider.

  4. Once LifeStream Wellness receives the referral authorization, the Veteran may schedule their acupuncture visits.

  5. The Veteran receives care from one of our licensed acupuncturists.

  6. We submit the required medical records and billing directly through the VA/community care process.
